I've written quite a few poetry collections over the years, including one with my daughter Hannah. Visit the "Books" section for more about them.
I'd guess I've written at least 3000 poems over the course of my life, about everything from love to fatherhood to the ills of systemic racism. Visit the "Poetry" section to check out some selections (I update them often).
TV, magazines, talk shows, podcasts - I've appeared in various different outlets over the years, talking about my writings, my activism, and my work in the community. Visit the "Media" section for more.
I've been a volunteer and community activist for 20+ years, serving in a variety of different capacities for such great organizations as Meals on Wheels, the Raleigh Rescue Mission, Read Seed, and Caring How Adolescents Develop (C.H.A.D.). I've always been driven by a strong personal passion to help others in need, particularly because of the help I've gotten from incredibly selfless individuals when I needed it most.
To help amplify my community service efforts, I started The Marcus Harris Foundation in 2018. Through the foundation, we aim to empower kids, families, and the community at-large through such programs as Kutz for Kids, Project ClassAct, Neighborfood Express, and the RBH Scholars, created in honor of my personal hero, my brother. I'm looking forward to expanding the organization to impact countless more lives in the months and years to come.
